Have you ever heard of a vehicle trying to start itself? Happened to me the other day. Truck was parked in the driveway with no one inside, doors were locked. The truck was just cranking away by itself. The starter is 3 months old from Summit Racing and is not a rebuild. No problems until now. I did drive the truck after this happened and everything was fine. Now the battery is dead and will not take a charge. I think it was nearing the end of it's life anyway. My questions is could the battery have caused the cranking anomoly or is the starter solenoid the culprit?

Hi
Can't battery being culprit except to supply the power. How did you get it to stop? was engine turning over or just starter? If engine then somehow power had to be on solenoid wire and that would have to come from ign switch. Have you put new battery in ? is all good now?
Let me know
Thanks for donate

Thanks for the reply. The engine was turning over and yes I did buy a new battery. I won't be able to install it until Friday. I'll let you know when I'm done.

Thanks,
Crash

I finally got the new battery installed and it didn't solve the problem. A friend of mine thinks that the solenoid is stuck now. I guess I'll try tapping on it with a rubber mallet to free it up.
