Transmission problem
1983 Chevy Truck V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

MY TRUCK WILL GO INTO GEAR BUT IT WONT GO. THE DRIVE SHAFT WILL SPIN BUT IT WONT MOVE. IT IDLED UP REAL HIGH AND THEN SOMETHING POPPED.

Hello

If I understand you correctly, you can select any gear with no problem. If you are saying in Drive, your drive shaft spins, this includes at the rear end differential where it goes into the case? But the truck just sits

Does it do the same as above in reverse and the drive shaft spins the opposite way?

When you shift into 4WD, does the truck move then and the forward shaft moves okay?

Also, there are numerous Chevy trucks, I need to know is it a K1500 etc, also, there are numerous V8s, I need to know the specific Liter and the 8th digit of your VIN
