Engine Mechanical problem
1983 Chevy Truck V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 6oooo miles

1600 on remaned engine. All at once loss 50% of oil pressure. Changed sending unit, checked gauge, and installed mechanical gauge. All show low pressure. Possible pressure valve? And if so, in pump or above oil filter. This engine is in a motor home.

Could be the oil pump pressure relief valve sticking or engine bearings.

It is a reman wiht onl 1600 miles. I believe it maybe the relief valve. Happened all a once. No noice in engine. But where is the relief valve on this engine? Pump or in filter housing? Pressure comes immediately to 30 lbs. and stays there.

The pressure relief valve is in the oil pump and normally opens somewhere between 55 and 70lb. of pressure.
