Transmission problem
1979 Chevy Truck V8 Four Wheel Drive Manual 37894+ miles

I recently did an engine swap and put a 350 out of an '85 K5 Blazer into my truck. I am wanting to put the original SM465 tranny back into my truck. But where I am running into a problem is finding a flywheel that has the same bolt pattern as the crank.

Right now, the engine that I am putting in has a very small grouping and bolt pattern for the flywheel. It was originally hooked up to an automatic and had a flex plate. I cannot find a flywheel with that small of a pattern to install. Do I have to change out the crank to one that has the manual flywheel pattern attached to it or is there something else I can do?

The 85 may have the one piece crank seal in the rear, they made that larger to fit the seal. But you should be able to find a later flywheel ifit has the one piece seal as well. If not I would guess you'll hav eto change the crank or rebuild the original engine.
