1969 Chevy Truck V8 Two Wheel Drive Manual

what i have is a 1969 chevy C20 LONGHORN with a 1970 chevelle 350 built motor. my current tranny is okay but i don't want my engine crusing at 3000rpm and i don't want to have spend 500 bucks a year to have the brass busshings replaced. when to bushings go out the shifter will get locked in neutral when i drop the clutch or gun it. i would like to know what i would have to do so i can swap my muncie SM465 for a M22 or a T10. i know i might have to shorten the driveshaft and change the tranny crossmember. my biggest concern is that with either swap the shift might by set to far back, then my shifter would be through my seat. this is an old picture but right where you the flannel coat would be about where the shifter would be. so could you guys give some advice i'd appreciate it.
thanks, Jim

Try doinf some research on Google as far as the trans lengths go. I do know they make truck shifters that have a serious bend in them for the clearance problem you are talking about. If need be. Why not bucket seats?. Lol You should be able to find/make something work, you cant be the first person to hot rod an old Chevy truck like that
