Is there such a thing as Polarizing a system??? if so how is it done?

because you did not mention if it was a 6V or 12V system I will assume it is a 6V system, the problem you are having is that your starter and your lights and electrical are still 6V you were going to have to get a converter from 12V to 6V so the alternator discharging at 12V into your 6V converter which will then power everything else, if not you will have to replace all of your lights, the original starter will work on 12V and get a 12V battery and hook it up normally.
