My 06 trailblazer makes a whining sound upon startup and increases with acceration. The belt is in good condition and has proper tension. I haven't noticed any electrical problems. Could it be the alternator or something else? Thanks a bunch.

Check the power steering fluid level. Also the tensioer and or idler pulleys...belt removal makes the inspection easier!

check the idler pulley below the alternator, very common problem on these vehicles.I use a long screwdriver against the alt and or tensioner to isolate noise.
