Engine Mechanical problem
1999 Chevy Tahoe V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

i just read a similar situation on your site. BUT, my exhaust smells like gas and the spark plug looks to be covered in oil. the problem started when i conducted a tune-up. the plug that came out of #4 was over grown with a thick white solid mass. the idle in park is at 2000 rpm and in gear idles at 900rpm. the wife is about fed up with it and i don't have the time to experiment on "mom's taxi".

Have you checked to see if you are getting a pulse to the fuel injector? Also, does it miss all of the time or only at certain times? Have you checked for vacuum leaks? Has the check engine light come on? Finally, have you checked the compression in that cylender?

Let me know.
