I HAVE A 1999 TAHOE, WHICH I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THEN ALL OF A SUTTON MY RPM WENT TO 5 AND I LOST POWER IN THE TRANSMISSION. I PULLED OVER FAST TURNED THE CAR OFF AND TRIED TO PUT THE CAR IN GEAR, AND IT WOULD NOT ENGAGE IN REVERSE, DRIVE OR 1 AND 2. SO WHAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM

A sensor would have set a check engine light. If it has, have the computer scanned. If it didn't, you will need to have it checked by a trans mechanic. It could be many things, torque converter, ront pump... However, make sure the trans fluid is full with the vehicle running, normal operating temp, and in park.

the transfer case will also cause this to happen. is the four wheel drive light coming on?
