Noises problem
1998 Chevy Tahoe V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic 171k miles

I've got a '98 2 door Tahoe. A few months back I had to get my fuel pump replaced along with some other repairs (manifold, etc.).
Since then, I've encountered a few problems:
1. I have trouble starting my car. I never had this before I took it in to replace the fuel pump. It takes a long time for it to crank.
2. The fuel pump produces a loud, high pitched kind of whine. It stops a few seconds after I shut off my car.
3. Sometimes I have problems accelerating. I'll press the gas pedal and get nothing.
4. Sometimes when I hit the gas pedal it kind of gives a chug-chug and jerks a little.
Non of these problems existed before i took it in for a new fuel pump. Someone has suggested it could be the fuel filter. Could this be the problem if the garage replaced the pump but not the filter? I hate to take it back to the same place with the fear they'll suggest more pricey repairs. Thank you in advance.
