Hello I own a 1997 Tahoe 4wd with about 160,000 miles and yesterday while driving the truck it just stalled and would not restart. The truck has been idling kind of rough with a stumble and about a month ago when my wife started it there was a loud bang and smell of sulfur or matches as she described after that the check engine light went out and the truck seemed to run the same. After the truck stalled I checked to see if there was fuel pressure by popping the schrader valve in the fuel line there was pressure then cranked it over and checked again. There was pressure again. Also checked for spark and there was spark. Last of all I hooked up an obdII and there were no codes, no freeze frames and all components ched out ok. I do not know what else to check without guessing any help would be greatly appreciated before I tow it to a garage.

Thanks
Wes

The sulfur smell makes me think about the catalytic converter or exhaust. The bang could have been related. However, most often you would have a code.

Did you check the code(s) when the light was on?
