Engine Mechanical problem
1997 Chevy Tahoe V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

Replaced the in-tank fuel pump two months ago. Tried to start the truck Fri. Morning and wouldn't start. Thought maybe I had water in the fuel line and it froze due to the freezing temperature over night, and the fact that the tank was almost totally empty. Saturday added 5 gal. Of gas. Temp. In the 60's, still wont start. Disconnected inline fuel filter, Should gas pump out when key is turned on? Getting no fuel at filter. What to do now?

gas, single tank. No fuel before inline filter. Fuel not leaving tank. Why? Fuel pump relay in box under hood bad? How to check power to fuel pump?

Gasoline engine? How many tanks? Have you tried to run the pump from the prime connector? Underhood, driverside rear, fender lining, red wire with electrical connector, nothing plugged into it. If you use a jumper wire from battery voltage to connector, the pump should run. You don't need to use the key. Use inline fuse on the jumper. Did you check for good voltage and ground at the pump before you replaced it?

Fuel pump on tahoe is prone to failure. I have gone through 7 since I bought truck new in 96.
Carter Fuel pumps seems to have solved problem for me. Go on their website. They identify a problem with the wiring harness and include a new harness with each pump.
