2000 Chevy Suburban Power steering goes in and out

mostly when I first start the truck in the morning and try to make a left turn the power steering goes out for a few secounds and the wheel is hard to turn I never have this problem with turning to the right only the left. It seems once the truck warms up the steering is fine all day. The problem does'nt happen everyday what do you think the problem is. Please help

Has that sub got a rack and pinion or steering box? If rack and pinion, sounds like the rack is going out. If box style , I would start with the steering wheel position sensor. Located on bottom of column about 3 inches above the steering shaft
