I am having issues with the power steering, As you drive on the highway 35+ the sterring wheel will lose pressure and allow the the wheel to jerk one inches or so. I talk with a garage and he stated something about a power assit sensor. My problem is nobody know what this sensor is or located please help.

Mine did the same thing and I had the truck torn apart to find the issue replacing bushings, no resolve. Finally the power steering pump shaft broke, yes, snapped completely. The new power steering pump resolved the problem. I was nearly on the brink of dumping the vehicle as unsafe due to the steering jerk on the highway. Good luck.

Hey. I have a 1999 K1500 just like above except at 134,000 miles. It's a Steering Speed Sensor. Bought it for about $40 vs the $80 the dealer wanted. Replaced it myself. Took about 25 minutes. Not a big deal at all. There are a couple of excellent message threads out there that you can Google to find out how. It's uncomfortable working under the dash but you can go slow and get it done. It fixed my problem 100% (flelt like the car was slipping on ice a bit when I would make a slow turn. Weird feeling. Hope that helps.
