Original fuel pump. Engine starts and then dies. Dealership replaced fuel pump. Same symptom occurred 1 week later. Guy at the bar suggested bouncing on the back bumper as "pig tail"? problem; bouncing solved problem every time.

Returned to dealership, said no way fuel pump installation problem. Suggested carbon build up on throttle as problem causing computer to shut down. Bullshit about bouncing solution and never heard of a pig tail.

I KNOW it is the connections or internal problem with the pump, but without more detailed info I can't get past the bullshit.

Anyone heard of this problem and could anyone direct me to a Chevy bulletin to help these idiots fix the problem?

Thank you much and if I ever take a car to a dealership again; why someone dope slap me along the head!

Do you hear the fuel pump come on for 2 secs when key at On position . If not check for power at gray wire at fuel pump connector. No power there take it back to the fuel pump relay.

Interesting...I have had the same problem on my 98 burb. Both times it has happened, I have had it towed only to have it start at the mechanics shop when it arrived. No codes, nothing...it just started right up as if nothing was wrong. Fuel pump would prime, BTW, each time. Here was my post regarding my issue: https://www.2carpros.com/forum/98-3-4-ton-suburban-74-4x4-156000-miles-vt58386.html

Thanks for the replies. Here is further information: no error code stored, pump is internal so wires can't be observed, no warng lights. Full tune up (plugs, etc) 20m ago. Exhaust clean, no decrease in mpHere is the big questions. What is a pigtail? And why can I make it start after jumping on the bumper?
