Hi,

I am thinking of buying a 1998 Suburban. When the car is running off of idle, the battery light blinks continuously in a steady rhythm. 5.7 liter gas engine, two wheel drive, automatic transmission.

The voltage gauge on the dash shows about 16 volts when driving.

What causes this and will it have likely done major damage to the car's electrical system?

Also, the airbag light next to the battery light comes on and off intermittently. Would this be related to the overcharging or does it mean the airbag is damaged or has been deployed at some time or other?

Thanks,

Mike
