My 1993 suburban started leaking transmission fluid, it appears to be leaking quite a bit, but only when the vehicle is running, the fluid is red. The vehicle shifts nicely, and doesn't slip or jerk, apparently it sat for about a year before I bought it. What could the problem be, or what should I check out?

Hi there,

The leak can be coming from a number of places,, you will have to wash it down and look underneath while it is running, If leaking from bell housing(where trans bolts to engine) Front seal will be leaking and the trans will have to be removed, pan gasket and cooler lines could be leaking, which can be done in place. You will have to get it inspected first to identify where the leak is coming from, before deciding on action required.
