speedometer not working

I have a 2003 chevy silverado approx 83000 miles on it and a 5.3 v8 engine. my speedometer quit working but all my other guages work and also my cruise control is still working. DO i need a sensor or the whole cluster?

no i didn't make any noise or anything but it would jump as you would start to speed higher into the 60-70 moh range
