I did not pull them just replaced the intake gaskets on this 97 silverado 350 and pulled the distributor. It was leakin coolant and I'm not sure if I got any in the oil. Oil looks good but does smell a little like gas and may be a little thin. Should I change it or wait till I get it running.(Just wondering if thats why its tapping or if its just bad out of time)Remember when I first got it back together it started and idled perfect. I t just acted up when I drove it or reved it a few times. It would then run rough and make a tapping noise which sounded like it came from the pass. Side of the engine.I also think there was a loud click right before it began to run rough.I feel like I have tried almost everything and I am going to work on it this afternoon so if you have any ideas let me know. Would the cam sensor work on idle but then short out or not work on acceration. Thanks Dan

Hey dan,
you keep getting lost on here I just found your post,

anyway now im getting a better picture, I dont yhink I knew about the loud click and then tapping, now it sound more mechanical, from that statement, oh and the fuel should dissapate a bit on its own, try starting it up and get a long flathead and strat listening around wher the noise is ( blunt end in ear) and see if you can narrow it down to a spot check all over the intake on that side and oall over the valve cover and when you pick up the noise tey and get closer and closer until it almost hurts your ear to listen to it and let me know, post back here
