2002 Chevy Silverado rear axel wheel hop while turning

what needs to be done to keep the locking differential from staying locked and causing wheel hop?

remove the rear cover rotate the wheels check the ring gear for broken teeth check the side gears for broken teeth..something is binding check the bearings. good luck billymac
