When I run my ac my truck loses a lot of power and makes a noise like its missing a little. also if you accelerate hard or it downshifts while passing the check engine light comes on and it loses power. I put new spark plugs, wires, distributer cap and rotor on last summer hoping to fix the miss but it didnt work. The truck ran fine all winter and when I don't use ac. do you have any ideas on what it might be?

Just had similar problem with an 02 Camaro with a V6 engine. First, my cat converter was bad, partially blocking the exhaust. If you hear noises when you first start it up like a pebble in an empty can coming from the cat converter or exhaust, check that. When that went bad, the engine ran hotter, and my ignition coils went bad. Coils can still test good with an ohm meter and still be bad. When I changed my coils (after plugs and wires), the problem went away,
hopefully for good. They don't make coils like they used to. If that doesn't do it, I'd check the ignition module.

I had a check engine light as well, showed cat converter problem and misfire on drivers side cylinders. Coils did the trick.
