2000 Chevy Silverado steering is hard to the left

fluid is at proper level,belt tension is good,power assist works OK to the right ,but not to the left and not all the time sometimes it works Ok but most of the time not.Engine rpm does not seem to be a factor.thanks for any help.

It sounds like one of the seals for the left side is nicked or leaking internally, steering box may need a rebuild.
