2000 Chevy Silverado engine ideling to fast

the engine is idling to fast and when i put it in park it idles a whole lot faster and just runs a little fast when it is in gear

most of the time a vacume leak will cause a high idle make sure your spark plug wires arent sparking to ground and use some carb and choke cleaner spray around the vacume lines you will notice a change in the engine if you find a vacume leak, if that doesnt work i would also check if your throttle cable is binding up
