1996 Chevy Silverado shifting into and out of 4 wheel drive
Drive Train Axles Bearings problem
1996 Chevy Silverado V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic 138000 miles
When trying to shift into 4H or 4L from 2H, the light just flashes for 2H. When shifting into 4L, the trasnfer case makes a normal clunk. However, the fron axle never engages. The fuse blows every time a shift into 4WD is tried. The fuse and the front axle 4WD actuator solonoid have been replaced but the problem remains. I am not sure of the next step and I would much prefer DIY fixes.

I heard of a guy who had a Chevy with a similar problem, the cause was a bad dash switch. Don't know if he was blowing fuses though. There isn't much else to work with here, unless you have a wiring harness/connector problem.
