1995 Chevy Silverado shifting problems

1995 Chevy Silverado V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic
I have a 1995 chevy k2500 4x4 truck with the 4l80e in it. Sometimes it wont shift out of first gear but if you unhook the battery for a few minutes than hook it back up it will shift fine for a while. Do you have any idea of what it could be?

have you tryed putting shifter in position one then moving it to second gear? does that cause it to shift into 2 or no

yea i tryed that and it still wouldnt shift out of first gear.

ok first thing youll wana do in the case is to drop the trans pan and perform a test on the 1-2 shift solenoid and make sure thats working properly. get back to me with what you find.

have you removed and marked the solenoids?
