I can press the brake pedal and the brake lights go on. When I turn the headlights on the taillights and brake lights will not work. I have replaced the brakelight switch and that didn't work. Anyone have any suggetstions

I'd use a testlite on the bulb socket. At the rear socket, probably two terminals in the socket, one is for turn/brake not at the same time, the other is tailites. Use metal part of vehicle for testlite ground. Have helper turn on headlamp switch and step on brake, if both terminals in the socket are hot, I suspect a problem with the socket ground terminal.

It is mostly likely you’re brake light switch, check your VIN there is a recall out for the 1994s I had the same issues. When you apply the brake you should hear a slight clicking sound by the brake pedal, if you do not it’s the switch hope this helped.

Thanks for adding that info. You are correct that there is a recall out for those brake switches. I attached the info below on the process.

This post was from almost 14 years ago so it is unlikely to help them, but I am sure this will help others in the future.

Thanks again for jumping in on this and using 2CarPros.
