My truck would not start it ran perfect 20 min later would not start. I did not hear the fuel pump prime or make any noise. I checked the fuse and it was fine, so I bought a new pump. I installed it and then the pump would make the prime sound so I thought I fixed it. It still wouldn't start. I replaced the filter also replaced the relay and the fuel pressure regulator. It still will not start, I even went as far as to disconnect the fuel line leading to the carburetor and it did not release fuel when i turned it over I then disconnected from back incoming to filter still no fuel not a drop. so i thought maybe it was wiring i dropped tank again and all wires in tact i then took the top of fuel pump assembly off and turned it over and the pump makes the priming noise but does not pump any fuel. I think I bought a defective pump. I have a major headache over this and it has cost me 2 days of frustration. Is it possible it would make the prime noise and still not work? I have no clue at all. I did put gas into the carburetor and it started right up as soon as fuel burned off it died.

I think you are right about the defective pump.
The only brand I would trust on the one is a delphi. The rest are junk. The connector should also be replaced going to pump unless you have already done so. They were of poor design and did fail causing the pump to go bad as well.

There should have been a recall, but GM isn't too good about making good on there poor engineering.
