you will need to take a test light and check the terminals at the fuel pump in the tank. the test light should come on for a few seconds everytime the key is turned on.

I can hear the fuel pump come on when I turn the key. But when the motor has been running for awhile the temp. is at normal operating condition, and I turn the key to see if the pump comes on, it only comes on sometimes and finally it does operate at all and the motor will not start only turn over and there is no full. Is this a faulty fuel pump? Or somehting else.

sounds like you are on the right track. if the pump is not turning on and you have voltage to the wire, i would say you have a fuel pump issue and should replace it.
