2002 Chevy S10 V6 2WD. Sat in very cold weather for several days, now will not start. Already replaced battery. It seems to come close to starting, but just whines as if it is about to. I can hear the fuel pump humming when I first turn key. Lights and everything come on. Has about 1/3 tank of fuel now. About one year ago I did not drive it for 8 or 9 days and it ran rough for a few days, but it did start. I don't know much about these cars or cars in general. Any help much appreciated.

Make sure battery fully charged and or try to get a jump
hold gas paddle down as you crank the engine and if start let go of the gas
check for spark
check coil we find it very common for it to fail and not to allow the spark to reach the distributor cap

good luck

thank you

Coil is under the hood mounted on the intake manifold right side of the engine (passenger side )
it has one wire going to the distributor cap
