What codes are in the computer?

We need to see if this is a powertrain management or basic combustion problem. The codes showing or not may give an idea.

We need to know what the fuel pressure when the problem is happening if no codes are present..

I assume the maintenance is current? Spark plugs, fuel filter, carbon removal..etc.

Cross this bridge and post the results to go further.

checked fuel pressure with key in on position to activate fuel pump read @ 48-50 psi started engine read@ 70 psi .is'nt that a high reading compared to the hanes repair manual?on this particular model 2.2l 4cyl.pick-up is there a fuel pressure regulator and if so is it located on the chassis @the right wheel well(front)? did all routine maintenance and still running rough. based on engine speed transmission not shifting out could that be the culprit? please help. one more thing on accelaration engine will flatten out resulting in lost of power.thank you.

It is high.

I believe the 2.2 has the regulator and the fuel rail as one component. You can verify this by calling the dealer.

A code should set if the transmission has any play into this.
