What causes service light to come on

When the On Board Computer sees a problem with the engine management system it'll will activate the MIL/CEL/SES. You need to have the code/s pulled from the computer to identify the problem area and comeback with it in order to start a diagnosis- Autozone will pull the code/s -its free service that's if you have one within the area otherwise provide your own scantool/code reader or have an independent shop pull it.
