Electrical problem
1997 Chevy S-10 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive

My 1997 Chev S-10 was purchased used, and I've had it over five years. When I bought it the interior light didn't work. By that,... I mean when you opened the drivers side door, the dome light would not come on. My nephew put a new replacement button( on the door) that I had purchased. That fixed the dome light problem, but then my panel lights went out. I had him take a look at it again. I don't have any idea what he did, but he fixed it, and everything worked for about two days. Now the dome light won't work at all, and I noticed the cigarette lighter doesn't work. When he fixed it the last time he told me he thought there was a short in a wire someplace. I'm thinking it blew a fuse, but I'm far from being a mechanic. Is there a way I can have the electrical system tested? OR do you think I just need to replace a fuse? I don't have the owners manual, but there should be a diagram on the fuse box cover. Do you have any ideas as to where I should start first? Sure would appreciate your help. Thanks in advance. judyc865
