When I trun the ignition key to the on position the gas guage raps around and then returns to level. But when I trun the signal light on the guage pulses with the signal switch. I replaced the sendinmg unit on the tank and confermed all wiring to the harnes in the firewall connector good.I cleaned all ground wires and tested. I was told that it could be the ignition switch. Thanks.

What do you mean by "pulses with the signal"? If you mean it seems to drop a bit (needle width or so) when the light flashes it is kind of normal. What is happening is the when the lights turn on they draw extra current and voltage through the system drops a small amount. When that happens anything that uses the voltage as a measurement item without any real buffer(volt meter, fuel gauge) the gauge will move in time with the voltage drop. What you can do to minimize this is to make sure all the grounds are tight AND clean. Do the same on the positive side as well.
