1996 Chevy S-10 won't start

I was driving down the road and engine started acting like it was going to cut off it was showing no oil pressure but was only a quart low now it will not start it will turn over but not start many people have said fuel pump went out can't hear it when you turn key and it is back firing which it has never done before

A couple things concern me. First, was the engine still running when the oil pressure dropped to 0? Did you hear any ticking or knocking from the engine? Did the check engine light come on prior to the engine dieing? And, it could be the fuel pump. You need to check for fuel pump pressure. Here is a how to:

Now my final concern is timing. before we get to that, check fuel pump pressure and for spark to the engine. Also, let me know the answers to the questions I asked above at the same time.
