1995 Chevy S-10 Starter

Electrical problem
1995 Chevy S-10 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 158000 miles

I am trying to change out my starter and I can not get it actually removed from the truck? It is completely disconnected and unbolted but it is such a small space it doesn't fit through. Any ideas or help would be great?
