My boyfriend's S-10 just started showing the oil pressure light, but not all the time. It doesn't knock, rattle, or make any other sounds linked to oil problems. The oil level is full. What is the most likely culprit? Sending unit, faulty sensor, oil pump, or something else I missed? Are there any "simple" tests I can try to at least narrow down the list?

Check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge, if normal replace the oil pressure switch. If abnormal could mean oil pump and/or engine bearing.

ENGINE OIL PRESSURE
Oil Pressure @ 65 °C (150 °F)
348 kPa (56 psi) @ 3000 RPM.
