how do I get the oil pan off?

ENGINE OIL PAN REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL
Remove negative battery cable.
Remove the engine.
Remove the oil pan bolts and nuts. NOTICE: Do not pry on oil pan when separating oil pan from block or damage to the an will occur.
Use a narrow putty knife in order to separate the oil pan from the engine block.
Oil pan.
Remove the oil pan rear oil seal.
Clean the sealing surfaces of the oil pan and the engine block, and timing cover. Make sure old RTV is removed from blind attaching holes.

INSTALLATION
Place a 2 mm diameter bead of GM P/N 1052914 RTV sealer or equivalent, on the oil pan to block side sealing flanges.
Apply RTV sealer or equivalent to the oil pan surface that contacts the timing cover.
Install a new oil pan rear seal. Apply a small amount of RTV sealer or equivalent to the oil pan rear seal ears, install pan against cylinder case and install bolts.
Install oil pan. TIGHTEN Pan bolts and nuts to 10 Nm (89 lb. in.).
Install the engine.
Negative battery cable
