I have a 95 chevy s-10. When I took off the rear brake drums I noticed my axle seal was leaking. How would you replace it?

Remove the rear differential cover. Drain and clean the case. Now remove the pinion locking bolt and push in on the axle. Remove the C clip and then remove the axle. Now remove the seal and clean the housing very well. Check the axle and bearing for wear. If they are OK replace the seal, slip a seal protector over the splines and slide the axle back in. Remove the protector and slide the axle back into the differential, reinstall the C clip and the lock bolt. Check the cover for any rust holes or damage. Install the new gasket with a bit of sealer. Torque it properly. Now remove the fill plug and install new gear lube (use the proper type and amount). Install the plug. Reinstall the brakes ( use new shoes and hardware if they got oil on them. Use some brake clean to remove any oil/grease from the wheel cylinder.
