Can I install a reverse flow water pump on a stock engine, 4.3 v-6? Do I need to make any modifications? It is listed as a standard part by Napa and my research shows reverse cooling is better for the engine, but on the engines manufactured for reverse cooling (lt-1) the thermostat is different and the cooling passages in the engine are routed differently.

Simultaneously I am switching to an electric cooling fan for the radiator.

I would replace it with what it had before. Is there an overheating problem? If so have the cooling system chemical tested first for a blown head gasket. Seen it many times on those engines, they even crack heads on occasion (thin-wall castings)
