about 3 wks ago I went to start my truck and it started but quickly stalled and won't do anything but crank. After checking fuel presure and spark I found the plugs were gas soaked. I changed the plugs and wires but it still would't start. To finally get it started I loosened the distributor and advanced the timing. It ran ok for a couple of weeks but then it happened again and again after cranking for just 10 seconds the plugs were dripping wet. I removed the timing chain cover and thats good. I took the exhaust off to check for a pluged converter. The insides were broken loose so I hollowed it out to see if this was my problem but still the only way I could start it is advancing the timing. But once its shut off it won't start again. Today I pulled the plugs I put in 2 days ago and they are black. Its like I'm getting to much fuel. I'm stumped

A fuel pressure regulator should control the fuel pressure. IF the the pressure is in spec...and it is critical, then I would start looking at ignition.
CFI failures wash carbon out of intake. Goes straight to EGR valve and hangs it open. I remove and clean them as part of a CFI repair. EGRs commoning up are common on the 4.3.

What is the cap and rotor like?

Is there any play in the distributor shaft? Seen bad distributors on these.
