I have a transmission that only leaks about once every two weeks, but when it does, it saturates the undercarriage of the truck. (two quarts) I had heard that it it probably coming from the vent tube, but what could be making it overflow?

It appears to be coming from the vent tube. Hard to tell tho, but it sure puts out a lot of fluid when it decides to leak, which isn't every day. Gasket and filter have been changed so that is ruled out.

vent could be bad and alll the pressure is building up then it all shoots out all of a sudden.

i would take it to a trans shop asap and get it looked at before something else goes bad.

Where would this vent tube be located? I have done a lot of work on vehicles, but never automatic transmissions and would like to try and fix this myself if possible.

transmission is one of the most advanced thigns you can get into, it requires an additional year in college to touch upon the basics let alone get very familiar in there.

without the problems thers very slim of a chance to figure out what is wrong.
