1992 Chevy S-10 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

Transfer case won't go into 4hi when I push the switch. Will go into to low 4 and 2 wheel drive.

When you put it in 4hi, are you getting power to the actuator on the transfer case? If so, the actuator is most likely bad. If no, check the switch and for broken wires.

I had the same problem. Mine was a vacuum leak. The bigger vacuum hose coming from the intake manifold was cracked and worn. I replaced that big hose and a few little ones that were in bad condition and that took care of the problem.

A vacuum leak can cause all types of problems. One large leak can cause many smaller problems.

Yes it caused trouble with the performance, idling, and my four wheel drive. One big leak, so I replaced most of my vaccum lines to ensure no problems in the near future. But unfortunately I replaced several other things first. All what the mechanic told me to do.
