1986 Chevy S-10 S-10 drivabilty

Got a 1986 s-10 2.8 throttle body idles high and runs lean. If you drive it like an old man runs like crap but if you drive it like a race car and keep the rpms up it dont seam to bad 1st and 2nd gear runs rough 3rd and 4th run smooth checkd codes found only one something to do with speed sensor malfunction ive replaced idle air contoll valve and fuel filter and o2 sensor and injectors why dose it fall on it face if you try to drive it like a old man would

Tow things with TBI units, they liked to blow the gaskets beneath the TBI- get some choke cleaner and spray at the bottom of the TBI unit if your rpm's change up or down it's leaking and has to be changed. The other thing is the vacuum hose going to the map sensor on the firewall. It gets soft and sucks together when the truck runs. Or it gets soft and leaks. Those are easy things that you can look at and fix. Also check the PCV hose as that gets soft as well. So check that.
