1982 Chevy S-10 No gas to Fuel Pump

I have installed a new mechaniclal fuel pump and a new 20 gallon gas tank, and sending unit. When we try to start the motor it never gets gas. Checked the line from the tank to the fuel pump and there is no gas? Help?
