2002 Chevy Prizm Broken Door Handle

So I've read other people say they've had problems with the Prizm door handle and all that needs to be done is replace the handle - while that sounds great, how do I do that when the door is locked and will not unlock? Something connecting the handle to the lock on the inside is broken, and I cannot unlock the door (not with the fob, not with the power locks inside, and not by the key in the door). Now what?
