How do I find out what kind of braking system I have and what size engine is in it. I have a deisel K2500 p/u.

Hi:
The engine size should be listed under the hood. If the truck is a 1996, it should be the 6.5L. The Duramax 6600 wasn't introduced until 2001 and the 6.2L was discontinued in 1993.

As far as the brake type, what do you need to know?

I am replacing the master cylinder and need to know if it is a J5, J6, or J7 system. The J7 cylinder is different than the 5 or 6.

For that one, you need to call a dealer and provide the VIN number.
