5.7L V8 has engine vibration when cold - the engine does not shake - but the vibration can be felt in the brake pedal, steering wheel and seat. When the engine is warm it does not vibrate. One year ago this started at the same time as the engine consumed coolant - about a two pints. The van was not driven much until it was taken to a mechanic. The mechanic replaced the engine & transmission mounts, valve cover gaskets, EGR solenoid & plugs/wires but the vibration remains. Any ideas? (The mechanic does not think the vibration is a real problem so refuses to do anything further.)

The only thing I can think of is a bad spark plugthat when it heats up from engine heat it starts to fire. I've had that happen a few times. Or there may be a piece of carbon in the plug causing it to misfire. One other thing may be a small vacuum leak that wnhen the engine gets warm the computer takes over and richens the mixture enough to takecare of the vacuum leak. The OBDII system will take care of small vacuum leaks when warm. This could be a cracked vacuum line or maybe the EGR valve staying open only when cold. Cleaning this will take care of this.
