Chev. 454 eng. Keeps breaking belt from alt. To smog pump to crank. One belt to all. If the tranny is out of gear and the engine is revved up it will break the belt. Have gone through several.

It's breaking it in half or throwing the belt, Check all the pulleys, make sure all the pulleys have the same amount of ribs as belt, check idler pulley for wear or bad bearing, check tensioner for same thiing as idler pulley.
