I took mthe car for inspection and it failed the emissions test. Mechanic said that the codes were not being sent to DMV. He told me to drive it about 50 miles and come back. I did this and it still failed. He said two of the five codes could not be read so to drive it some more and come back. I did this and still failed. What can I do and is this covered by a warrenty?

Change the oil and oil filter, and air filter. Drive about 20 miles on exspressway then get it tested. It should pass. If not have the engine scanned for codes. Of course if there are codes now get it scanned to see what's wrong. When getting tested, always change oil and oil filter and drive about 20 miles on eway before testing. That will usually let it pass.
