The gauges on my 2004 Monte Carlo SS are not working. They began to fail @ approx 85,000 miles starting with the engine oil light. One by one, they all began to fail with the speedo being the last to go. Is this caused by a broken multifunction switch in the steering column? The dummy lights (check engine, low tire, change oil) are still okay. The dash is not digital.

The multifunction switch would have no effect on gauges. The best way to isolate if you have a gauge cluster issue would be to perform a gauge sweep test that requires a scan tool that can access the IPC. This will be a straight forward test, if the gauges don't move when commanded, it is internal IPC fault. I know a dealer scan tool can achieve this, not sure in the aftermarket world.
